It’s no surprise that we have become a technology driven and mobile culture.  From tablets to cell phones to e-books, consumers are adapting and utilizing all that mobile devices have to offer.

The impact to small business is significant. What was once strictly a means of communication is now a customer entry point, forcing small business owners to also adapt, and reformat old brick-and-mortar storefronts into digitally revamped and mobile-friendly “welcome” signs

From scheduling appointments to purchasing products and services, entrepreneurs can bring on-the-go access to customers by either optimizing sites for a mobile-friendly experience or creating customer-focused mobile apps.

There are common misconceptions about this “new normal” that should be considered as you take the next step creating a mobile strategy for your business:

Too Costly – Many smaller, localized digital companies or freelance app developers can help your business build a no-fills mobile app to accommodate basic business needs. Starting simple can lay groundwork to help you determine which capabilities to explore, expand, and build as your customer base grows.

Lack of Loyalty – Building brand loyalty and driving repeated customers to your app takes work, but with targeted focus and strategy, it can be done. Rewarding your customers consistently with exclusive offers and discounts through your app not only encourages customers to engage through mobile, but also sparks organic buzz around your offerings.

Hard to build Awareness – Building buzz for your new app doesn’t need to include advertising support. Social media can effectively build awareness and be leveraged organically with little to no additional spend. If your business has a blog, posting a general FAQ about your new app and its capabilities provides customers a general resource page and drives potential downloads to your app (Don’t forget to ensure your blog page is mobile-friendly!).
